It's been a while since a movie has made me involuntarily cry without notice but Small Things Like These, tear just rolling down my face.
Small Things Like These isn't a great movie about the Magdalene Laundries, but it is a fantastic character study about someone that interacts w it. The cold winter countryside of Ireland makes for a bleak backdrop for a story about trying to do good in a world with overwhelming amounts of suffering.

It is slightly, but not too bad, movie is just so good. And there’s a moment where Murphy breaks my heart. This picture is that moment, but you’d have to watch it and see what he’s looking at. He’s so good, it’s a subtle and brilliant performance.

So many people who tell me they like Cillian Murphy also tell me they’ve never watched “The Wind That Shakes The Barley”. Such a great film. Sad but great.
