might still be worth revisiting for a future project but I think I'm too far in to pivot again

i thought about that, but i think I'd have to be insert those in a way that would cause structural integrity issues. plastic being connected to more plastic using a metal joint is something I've seen fail on transformers on the market today - both official and unofficial

obv it more practical on a hulking plastic robot since it's supposed to be chonk but honestly imo it my might be worth trying it if you can.

the metal pins are intended to provide additional friction. i havent tested it out yet, but i have a sneaking suspicion it'll wear out slower

fuck ball joints lmao. currently trying to design a transformer in freecad to print and im literally taking the extra time just go with a U-joint using 1mm diameter jewellery pins just for longevity to avoid this
