i love tokusatsu heroes. people in practical effects armor costumes beating up people in rubber monster suits and saying shit about friendship or kindness just fucking gets me in the most basic way.

Love to see some appreciation for non-traditional robot modes, there are so many ways you can get creative with Transformers when the robot mode isn’t constrained to specific proportions or body shape.

i remember being pretty critical of drive's first quarter, but it's honestly been so much fucking fun revisiting it. going back through a rider series when you've fully let your guard down about gimmicks and toys is so much fun. plus the second quarter gives us this eternal gem in english:

One of the benefits of organizing a toy collection in a spreadsheet is being able to graph data like this, think 'huh, I have more toys from the last few years than I thought', then realize it's almost all toku toys and that I only have 3 Transformers released in the last decade.

Gou using Chase's Signal Bike and going into Chaser Mach really seals the deal. The suit's just a kitbash, sure, but I just love what it represents. One last ride for Kamen Rider Chaser, alongside his friend.
I wasn’t a fan of Grimlock either; I distinctly remember opening him being one of my most visceral ‘why the hell did I buy this’ impulse purchase momets, although a big part of that is also having zero attachment to that version of him.

Why is that? I haven’t delved into much Ultraman or its fanbase so I was surprised to see that reaction, I would have assumed it would be the same as with Kamen Rider.
It’s a great example of why I adore that W established Futo as a specific distinct city. It makes interactions like this feel really natural compared to a lot of other Rider crossovers, in the same way you’d expect Batman to show up if a different hero is going to Gotham.
Gonna take this as my sign to finally watch it (and maybe more of the Drive movies in general; I've only seen Movie War Full Throttle and Saga Mach/Heart at the moment)

On the exact opposite end of the spectrum as Type Formula, Type Tridoron might just be my favorite suit in Kamen Rider Drive.
I especially love how it feels like an evolution of Type Speed without being too similar, very fitting as a final form.
Thinking about Metal Cluster Hopper after getting some Kamen Rider Zero-One toys: the key is twice as long to fold in front of the driver, and it looks like a whole grasshopper…
…it would have been sick if it was a proper grasshopper robot that transformed into a key, à la W’s Fang Memory.
