Curious what we'll learn over time.

FWIW I'm an Internal Medicine doc who treats a lot of Long COVID. In my experience, there are gradations of LC from "short Long COVID" (1-2 months) to "medium Long COVID" (1-2 years) to "long Long COVID", which lasts an unknown amt of time (possibly lifelong) and is often truly devastating.

Of note, they defined Long COVID as "symptoms >4 wks after COVID infection". This is certainly quite concerning, and would argue for allowing soldiers (and others) to take time off if they remain symptomatic after COVID. I'm curious what a longer follow up interval would show.

That this country has come apart at the seams may be the most optimistic telling of this part of history. What will historians make of this period of time? It’s all just so completely off the rails and weird and surreal. Am I in a story by Borges?

What fresh horror is this? 😭 I really respected Whitman Walker until now. This is truly deplorable, and very concerning.

REYES: [The order] calls an entire category of people dishonest, dishonorable, undisciplined, immodest, who lack integrity, people who have taken an oath to defend this country, people who have been under fire, people who have received medals for taking fire for this country. I want to know from the government whether that language expresses 'animus.' Does that express animus? DOJ ATTORNEY: Not in any constitutional- REYES: In a commonsense way. This is a policy from the President of the United States affecting thousands of people ... to call an entire group of people, lying dishonest people who are undisciplined, immodest and have no integrity. How is that anything other than showing animus? DOJ ATTORNEY: I don't have an answer for you. REYES: You do have an answer, you just don't want to give it... People can make solid arguments as to why some or even most transgender people shouldn't be in the military We're dealing with unadulterated animus. We are dealing with the president of the United States dealing with a group of people serving their country... calling them liars. (Reyes then said she changed her courtroom orders to bar people who graduated from UVA law school from appearing before her because "they're all liars and lack integrity and are undisciplined and can't possibly meet the high rigors of benign a lawyer for the government" She made the DOJ lawyer sit down on that basis, then after he did, she called him back up and asked whether that was a display of animus.)

U.S. Park Service Strikes Transgender References From Stonewall Website The “T” was removed in references to L.G.B.T.Q.+ on the official site for the Greenwich Village monument, which marks a milestone in the fight for gay rights.

They literally removed the T from LGBTQ and erased any mention of trans people who were present at the Stonewall Riots. They're trying to erase us from history.

Please restore the “T” to your site & continue to honor the incredible trans people who fought for LGBT civil rights. I beg you not to be intimidated into erasing the very history your mission states you protect.
I know it’s a scary time, but we must all step up & stand together for what’s right. <3

Big ups to @signal.org @meredithmeredith.bsky.social for allowing usernames instead of phone numbers last year (signal.org/blog/phone-n...).

Washington basically runs on Signal right now and that one change has made reporting and whistleblowing way more private and secure.

New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.

Huge win in DC. A TRO has been placed on DOJ from transferring multiple incarcerated trans folks.
