I know that thought is tempting, but the ones who can’t vote in those states shouldn’t pay for the terrible mistakes of those who can. :/
If she can do it, we can all do it.

When cognitive dissonance starts to become reality. We are going to start seeing a lot of this, I imagine.
Photo of a page of a newspaper showing the headline “one in three say COVID-19 response overblown: poll” The article describes dozens of opinions on the overreach and overreaction of the response and mentions 50% thought it was appropriate and another 13% did not think it was overblown.
In other words, a supermajority of two thirds do not say Covid-19 response was overblown.
The role of media ladies and gentlemen.

Last night we went Christmas shopping at a Night Market in Culver City. They had great, unique gifts (including a young woman with a typewriter who wrote custom poems for $10). It felt so good spending our money on local artists who are just happy for the business and don’t want to control the world
I enjoyed shopping with mine too. And then later on my own while I was still working from home. But now that my days are a stream of short-form interactions with people (usually people who don’t feel 100% great), I’m not feeling it. HEB is right next to work though so order/pickup is easy.
If I lived in a walkable neighborhood, then I would be down for it. I still go in person to the international markets for specialty items I can’t get at the big supermarket. But I’m with @nobodobodon.bsky.social in that curbside has won out for me otherwise. Esp after peopling all day at work now.
Masks in hospitals save lives.
When masking is dropped - they saw a 25% jump in hospital acquired viral infections.
When reinstated? A 33% decrease.
It’s almost as though masking should be mandatory and permanent in hospital settings.

"Health care is not just about responding to disease. It's also about prevention and improving health equity and access in our communities, improving workforce issues, and changing patterns of disease." -Rachel Gerson, MD, MA #RSNA24
Please re-read original post regarding knowledge of science or lack thereof. Kthxbye
This feeding into a mindset of ‘agree to disagree’ and outright dismissal/invalidation of fear and anger of those who are likely to be most affected in the months and years to come is what may be grinding me down the most atm. I’m trying, but it’s treading emotional and mental water atm. Love y’all.
When Obama nominated Tom Daschle -- a congressional leader with three decades of experience working on federal health care policies -- to be HHS secretary, the senator had to withdraw because a donor provided him with a car.

The press treated Michelle Obama pushing vegetables as more politically fraught than RFK Jr anti-vaxxing up the joint.

POLIO IS CONQUERED newspaper headline
Sigh.
A lot of what NIH does is fund basic research into public health that is not profitable for pharmaceutical companies to do. This is what you get with someone who does not believe in research.
