americans talk about the homeless like they're vermin and it's TERRIFYING. I never hear more casually dehumanizing language than when homeless people are the subject of conversation and that's saying A LOT.
I shouldn't be shocked, but I'm still always brought up short to realize how many people think "civility" means "white people speaking in relatively calm voices" no matter what vile shit they say.
