Council from pursuing so-called "soft-on-crime' sentencing policy by: • lowering the definition of "youth" from 25 to 18 • removing below mandatory minimum sentencing for youth offenders • establishing a public website containing stats on juvenile crime This means incarcerating young people for longer and subjecting them to public surveillance. H.R. 5143 District of Columbia Policing Protection Act This bill would amend current DC law to allow vehicular pursuit of a suspect fleeing in a vehicle, which was previously restricted.
