A digital drawing of Jessie of Team Rocket from the Pokemon anime, posing for a mugshot based on the scene from the Barbie movie of Barbie and Ken.
She is standing against a height chart background, looking towards the viewer, wide-eyed and upset, holding a name card that says "VCPD JESSIE 202-24 VIRIDIAN".

A digital drawing of James of Team Rocket from the Pokemon anime, posing for a mugshot based on the scene from the Barbie movie of Barbie and Ken.
Like Jessie, he is standing against a height chart background, looking towards the viewer. Unlike Jessie, he is smiling with his mouth open, holding a rose that is partially obscuring a name card that says "VCPD AND JAMES 110-5 (something) VIRIDIAN". Sparkles have appeared next to his face.

When my (South Asian) parents first moved to their current, predominantly South Asian neighbourhood, my brother was home from uni. He tried to preach back at some Mormons who came to the door about Krishna, The Loverboy. Hilarious. Never saw them back in our neighbourhood after that!

This Barbie is absolutely NOT missing a subpar Ken (who strung her along for ages after promising not to play games) while she doom scrolls and feels hopeless about the world...

I remember loving this look so much as a kid because it looks like something Barbie might wear but also something I might wear (I had a similar pair of overalls in purple when I was even younger). And I also identified with Raye (Rei?) a lot... so it felt perfect!

I couldn't find them 😭
Well, I found the brunette in the lengha but she's missing her shoes and wearing the wrong blouse 😫
Hopefully, one day I'll find her sisters and her matching blouse...

Diwali Barbie is cool and all but next time I visit my parents I'll take pics of my 3 desi dressed Barbies from when I was a kid. I have a blonde in a sari, a brunette in a lengha and a still-in-the-box Indian Bride Barbie
