Venture Phone Case | Protective Phone Case for iPhone Pro Models | Bellroy Premium feel meets rugged performance – this MagSafe phone case for iPhone gives you the confidence to ride the bumps and focus on what matters most.

I’ve had this Bellroy one with two diff iPhones bellroy.com/products/ven... and I like the ruggedness/bulk of it. Friends tease me about the lanyard thing but it is useful!

Yeah it caught me out for a while and then I had to go around dropping that in. Nice how well it works though. Happy new year!

Yeah you see it all over the place. The fix is to not use `height 100%` but to use the newish dvh (dynamic view height) which changes based on browser chrome so `height: 100dvh`

Here’s it in action on a basket overlay, the overlay changes when the chrome pops in and out on scroll

Currently divesting myself from Vercel. I replatformed gif.land over the weekend. It was Next.js on Vercel and it’s now Astro and Cloudflare. I put a little note up on my blog about the transition jonheslop.com/posts/2025/d...

It was my first time building anything with Astro, it’s really nice!

A photograph of me clutching an envelope and paper on my balcony. The paper is a risograph printed and posted by Robin Sloan. You can see the start of the title, it reads “Reality has”

Nah it’s good. I want to know if Severance universe Dieter Rams is OK with his designs being used by a clearly unethical company and if he will come out as anti severing

Watched ep 7 of Severance last night and this was me every time the Vitsœ shelves or chair came on screen

Week 8

I’ve posted week notes for the first time in a year: jonheslop.com/posts/2025/8...

I talk about zwift, sunshine and gif.land

I’ve been reading a lot more RSS lately and wanted to get back into the habit of posting more often myself

A few times a year I will have a day where I listen to:
• Underoath - Only Chasing Safety
• The Used - The Used
• Funeral for a Friend - Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation

And I _still_ love it (I am 37 years old)

gif.land My online memory bank of my favourite gifs

Inspired by @ethanmarcotte.com, I’ve made a silly new website called gif.land — an online home for all my favourite GIFs. It’s glued together with Cloudflare R2, a @tur.so SQLite DB and next.js. I’ve blogged about it too: jonheslop.com/posts/2025/gif-land

Well good. Also have not heard Beirut in a long time. Which reminded me I used to love this vid youtu.be/R781LDKOVJE which is 17 years old 💀

I think this is the closest approximation bsky.app/profile/flas... (coming soon) there’s also this pixelfed.org I’ve not tried either.

I do really like retro.app though! It’s not really like instagram but its a nice way to share photos with friends

I love twiglets but they are also totally mental. So dry, so twig like. Imagine offering them to someone who didn’t know the concept nor grown up with them.
