"Silicon samples" are becoming more and more common in research and polling.
One problem: depending on the analytic decisions made, you can basically get these samples to show any effect you want.
The updated version of this preprint is now online!

I consider Dr. Foa’s exposure therapy work among the most profound achievements in clinical psychology.
Her work has saved so, so many lives. She led a big life.

I'm looking for a good resource on the implications on psychometric properties and response patterns when using Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree vs Never/Rarely/Sometimes/Often/Always Likert scales on surveys. Anyone have anything I should read?

I wrote up something that's been in my head for a while: psychometric methods alone can't tell us what cognitive tasks and their indicators measure.
Correlating indicators across tasks is circular when constructs are defined by those same correlations.

Hello, friends, we have a new publication looking at Which depression symptoms matter most for functioning!
Fatigue stands out. Anhedonia, appetite changes, and guilt also play key roles.
Symptom-level approaches may improve functioning more than focusing on total severity.

The SCORE investigation of repeatability and credibility is a lot. There are a few ways to get your head around it.
1: The Nature collection includes 3 papers from SCORE, an amazing paper from @i4replication.bsky.social and several commentaries about the work.

Congratulation! So pleased to have been a small part of this great project!
A Japanese newspaper (The Nikkei) had an article about these Nature papers (I contributed a comment as a co-author).

SCORE, a collaboration of 865 researchers, is now released as three papers in Nature, six preprints, and a lot of data (cos.io/score/). SCORE examined repeatability of findings from the social-behavioral sciences and tested whether human and automated methods could predict replicability.

🚨 New Blog Post 🚨
I wrote my very first blog post 😊
This post is for quantitative researchers working with negatively worded Likert-scale items and haven't heard that these items can cause problems. I outline key issues, describe alternatives, and recommend lit.
