"Silicon samples" are becoming more and more common in research and polling.

One problem: depending on the analytic decisions made, you can basically get these samples to show any effect you want.

The updated version of this preprint is now online!

I'm looking for a good resource on the implications on psychometric properties and response patterns when using Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree vs Never/Rarely/Sometimes/Often/Always Likert scales on surveys. Anyone have anything I should read?

I wrote up something that's been in my head for a while: psychometric methods alone can't tell us what cognitive tasks and their indicators measure.

Correlating indicators across tasks is circular when constructs are defined by those same correlations.

Hello, friends, we have a new publication looking at Which depression symptoms matter most for functioning!

Fatigue stands out. Anhedonia, appetite changes, and guilt also play key roles.

Symptom-level approaches may improve functioning more than focusing on total severity.

Reliable research in the social and behavioural and sciences Sweeping new investigations probe the replication, robustness and reproducibility of results across the behavioural and social sciences.

The SCORE investigation of repeatability and credibility is a lot. There are a few ways to get your head around it.

1: The Nature collection includes 3 papers from SCORE, an amazing paper from @i4replication.bsky.social and several commentaries about the work.
