So great how we’re constantly coming up with ways to destroy our children’s future and stunt their development while also crying about how we’re not making enough new ones to fuck over.
That’s true. We’ll see if they make value of it.
To me it's not about projecting if Lundkvist or even Schneider are playing to their full potential - it's about the value they offer right now. To Tom's original point, NYR seemed not interested in seeing that through and thus will seemingly miss out on a higher ceiling player.
It has always bothered me how the Rangers decided to give Lundkvist a break for Schneider, Schneider played worse, and then they just gifted him the job. A misunderstood player whose biggest crime was not being 6’4” and over 200 pounds.
That’s part of the issue though. They don’t accept what the player is, good or bad, and they usually continue to shoehorn instead of pivoting the strategy to complementing the good parts.
It’s always short sighted.

Abusive bosses, nepotism, private equity, vulture capitalists… the demise of Pro Football Focus is a depressingly familiar story in 21st century media. defector.com/the-decline-...
Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.
There's just gotta be a line somewhere.
Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.
Used to say it on the old site: for streaming, I would choose the option of no commentators and just arena noise.
Sometimes when my roku acts up I get it by accident and it's amazing.
This piece begins with Amity Shlaes' most common and most deceitful trick -- citing the unemployment numbers in 1938, when the country fell into a recession because FDR had been persuaded to *ease off* the New Deal, as proof that the New Deal didn't work.
Pure hackery.
yeah saw it elsewhere. cathartic.
Listen to this crowd pop
Imagine if ESPN didn’t mute the crowd noise in favor of the heavy-handed play by play.
Would probably be the closest thing to a world junior final at the NHL level that we’d ever get.
need to also highlight the Buffalo fans knocking over the metal barrier during the celebrations at their outdoor watch party
Too bad you can’t hear any of the crowd noise in Buffalo because of how badly ESPN mutes it.
would take him 20 mins to get from the Buffalo to Boston end to do so
And they’re always talking over it on top of it, plus no sense of pregame energy building. Pathetic.
ESPN missed a massive opportunity not showing the Better Days pregame clip for the energy & vibes.
No shock that ESPN bungled capturing the energy in Buffalo, but don't worry they got the shitty anthems covered
The energy in Buffalo is palpable.
They are cheering the arrival of ushers before the doors have opened

If you TRULY care about the world and people in it, you realize that WE'RE A RICH COUNTRY and have no excuse to be miserly cheap motherfuckers with our own citizens (and help abroad) and that's true asshole shit. Cheap racist sacks of shit. Fiscally conservative, you're a selfish prick
Correct. If MTL catches lighting in a bottle and they ride it for 2 rounds, so be it. They’ll win 8 games by getting outshot 40-20.
Take that chance that it doesn’t happen. As a Rangers fan who has watched Henrik & Igor steal games & series you just gotta be good enough in front of them.
For Buffalo I’d rather take the chance that Montreal survives against Tampa and has to do it again against a clearly better team in round 2.
Tampa will be very hard for anyone to finish them off, and as a result to me you’d rather have the young buck that will likely make more mistakes.
addendum as I forgot TOI on the WOWY chart (haven't made one in a while)... just over 2,442 TOI with at least one of Borgen or Schneider on ice and just over 1,612 TOI without either of them.
Plenty of sample.
On Schneider bouncing up: ok, but his ceiling remains visibly low. If you want to extend him to be your 3RD, sure, but that isn't something you pay an RFA premium for.
Anyway this is the kind of stuff would actually indicate a true change in management/thinking. I'll believe it when I see it. (3/3)
Drury at least has the out on Schneider being an RFA, but moving him would likely go against what most GM's would do. One could argue a bounce back coming.
And moving on from Borgen after the extension would be a massive admission of fault.
Needless to say I'm doubtful either will happen. (2/3)
If NYR/Drury actually want to retool the quickest addition-by-subtraction moves they could make is moving on from Borgen & Schneider.
Without either of them on the ice at 5v5, NYR was +12.7 in xG and +8 in GF, aka a good NHL team. With them they -4.8/-11, aka a bottom 5 team stuff.
