The preciousness of the heirs is especially funny given ACD's own "Marry him or kill him, do what you like" quote.

If you read the piece, you'll see the answer is "Not according to RDJ"
As of 2023, Sherlock Holmes is finally in the public domain in the United States -- which means that Arthur Conan Doyle's heirs and random other rights-holders can no longer insist that the character be free of any trace of homoeroticism.

Well, he was always pretty ambivalent about people buying his books in the first place.
At the moment they are pretty much hanging on by the fingernails of my daughter's love for Monster High (which, TBF, is great, and exactly the kind of thing they are really setting out to kill)
Yeah I keep saying that too, but then the people around me pull facial expressions that I find difficult to parse.
On the other hand, I've writing the third (well, 9th-through-12th) book in a series and am having to work carefully to ensure I don't contradict established continuity.
I didn't realise I could save a lot of work by just going back, changing the older books to fit and telling you to buy them again.
The thing is, we have solved this problem.
It's called "Cutting to a flashback that reveals things turned out slightly differently to how the audience remembers".

Was coming to say this. Also, as many here have missed, 99 Red Balloons *is* sung in the present tense, so all those people die *during* the song, rather than merely being a previous death that the song is reporting on.
That *is* all in the past tense though. None of those people were alive when they started singing.
How many stages is that rocket?!
I look at this, and I feel hope. Because whatever the scam artists and the tech bros and capitalists say - No LLM could ever write this.
Besides, if Futurama, and Gene Rodenberry's Genesis II didn't get sued, you're basically fine anyway.
Just looked it up. The character fell into the public domain last year.
There's a constant lingering, never to be acknowledged or resolved ambiguity over whether you are addressing the toad or the guy.

I'm going to think about this story forever now, thanks.
One of the Sandy Hook families lives in hiding 1500 mi away from their baby’s grave due to people stalking them.
The graves of multiple children have been defaced.
One of the fathers had to submit DNA evidence to prove his son was a REAL HUMAN BEING after Alex Jones’ book said he never existed.
See, for all of my problems with Star Wars 9, which are many, I respect "Somehow Palpatine has returned". How did he return? "Somehow", I literally just said. Maybe some spin-off media go and fill in the gap later, but for the movie, "Somehow" and some weird cloning vats really is all you need.
I literally came here to say I want to read this book more than the Francis Spufford fanfic. Has he filed the serial numbers off and released it?
Saw an article about one already being released the other day, with the comment that it will quickly be withdrawn when tech companies realise how many adults want to buy one.
Christ, this was from two months ago? When will they let him die?

For years I've wanted to write a Canterbury Tales-ish anthology about six convicts waiting to be dehydrated for transport in the Void Bastards universe.
The stories would be confined exclusively to ships you see in the game and the supporting cast would all be pre-voidwarped versions of the enemies.
