I keep making first versions of units, that have way to much detail.

Even though they look better in my opinion up close, once zoomed out (as it will be in game) it becomes a sludge.
It's tough to force myself to limit pixels and draw bigger.

End to end tests should test business process from end to end. Integration tests simply test interactions between different parts and are usually smaller in scope then end to end. Unit tests test a single class or component in isolation.
