Shame is a secondary emotion that complicates the grieving process. Overcoming shame & leaving it w/ the abuser, where it justly belongs is the hardest step in healing. Taking back that power. Abusers play a long game, starting w/ emotional &psychological abuse. Long term exposure creates a psyche break &makes victims believe they can’t escape. They become trapped by invisible walls.Fear paralysis. It can take years to rewire this belief.It’s never as simple as just walking out the door.🚪

I came across a post today of a woman commenting on a viral post of another woman who’s not come to the realization yet that she’s in a toxic relationship. She commented that the victim must be into this kind of behavior as a kink, because why would she stay? Let me be clear, this is victim blaming.
