Violence is ours to use, at home and abroad, to get what we want.

The Department of Education Forced Idaho to Stop Denying Disabled Students an Education. Then Trump Gutted Its Staff. For years, the Education Department was the only agency that could ensure states would improve conditions for disabled children. Now, Trump’s cuts threaten to hamper its oversight.

Editor’s Note: Condemning SFPD’s detention of Daily Cal staffers and suppression of student journalism On Sunday and Monday night, the San Francisco Police Department, or SFPD, briefly detained two Daily Cal student journalists covering Bay Area protests against federal Immigration and Customs Enforcem...

We don't know how many times we need to say that detaining journalists, even for a minute, prevents them from covering events of public concern, and violates their rights.

SFPD and other police departments around the country need a crash course on the First Amendment.
