Me: Nah I don't really read horror. I feel like real life is horrific enough, ya know?
Also me: What's that? You need ideas for details for your DnD campaign? Have you considered body horror? Gore? Maybe a little existential horror, as a treat???

Honestly, I would rather just sit on hold while I have the motivation to accomplish $goal.

When I use a chatbot, I wander through a hedge maze of generative AI suggested, loosely-related help articles before eventually getting dumped in a form that puts in a ticket.

The ticket becomes an email thread purgatory where each support response is "guaranteed within 3 business days"

Lately when I pick up the phone and call someone I get to "goal accomplished" way faster than sending an email.

The hold music is still annoying but I personally can cope with it, for a good cause.

Maybe the types of companies that had horrific phone service have en masse moved over to chat/email generative AI customer support only? Maybe VoIP phone services have improved? Or quality audio hardware has gotten cheaper? Maybe I mostly use B2B customer support for work and it's alway been better?

In a baffling turn of events, I have somehow become a person who strongly prefers customer service via the phone vs any other form of CS interaction.

It has always been so obvious that the backlash to MeToo isn’t about whether the abuse is happening but whether people are allowed to want it to stop

I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?

Once again, I'm out on a walk as unofficial town sorcerer. I'm on the lookout for crows, omens, and a missing cat named Moo. I've brought my trusty bag of unsalted peanuts and my hand-embroidered cap. My lower back is in pain, which is also an important part of being an unofficial town sorcerer.

Bookmarks. Huge timesaver. No more printing out our favorite Bluesky posts and taping them to the walls like some kind lower-tier Batman villain that gets defeated in the opening pages but kicks off a larger more important and emotionally satisfying story.

Honorary library cards are 1000x better than honorary doctorates. What can you even do with an honorary doctorate? Not like you can go do a heart bypass surgery. A library card still gets you books, honorary or no.

All this talk about how infodumping is a neurodivergent trait—listen, we grew up reading SFF in the Nineties, OF COURSE we infodump. Y’all are lucky we’re not a full on italicized prologue.

Death hangs out with a cup of a tea at a kotatsu table with the Hound Knight and their crow companion. The caption reads (in Latin and then English) Quiesce ut vivas - Rest is not a reward. It is life.
