From my understanding of sensory science, carbonated water has an 'irritation' component to its flavour (from the bubbles), just as spicy food containing capsaicin also irritates one's taste buds. So it makes sense to me if someone thinks seltzer is 'spicy'.

Golden sunrise as sun comes up over Auckland with the silhouette of Sky tower clearly visible on the left. The photo is busy (messy) with reflection artifacts from the bus window.
Whau River mouth at dawn. Among the moored boats is one heading out to harbour leaving a V-shaped wake behind.
Something different this morn. Boat heading into the harbour from Whau River mouth leaves a V-shaped wake. Also, I'm so glad of the putting phone against window trick, which I wasn't able to do for the other photo. #publicTransport #Auckland #TamakiMakaurau #bus #somethingBeautiful #aucklandscenes
I'm not surprised that some of the voices saying "We weren't warned" about the awful Wellington storms are the same voices that said officials overreacted to last week's cyclone.

The Green Party says a national electrification plan is needed to build NZβs energy security as, unlike oil shipments, wind and solar canβt be held up in the Strait of Hormuz.
Over the past ten years NZ has averaged 55.9 days annually under a State of Emergency each year, and 66.6 days over the last five. In the 10 years prior to this, NZ averaged only 13.4 days per year.
Consider the implications of central government continuing to refuse to believe in climate change.
Whau River mouth at dawn. Boats are moored & the golden dawn light is a band on the horizon that is reflected on the calm water surface. To the left the riverbank mangroves provides dark silhouettes to contrast with the bright parts of the image.
Making the most of it being still light enough to see the Whau River mouth on my morning commute. (Snapped a good one from the bus window today) #publicTransport #Auckland #TamakiMakaurau #bus #somethingBeautiful #aucklandscenes

Te Whau pathway in fine morning weather with walker, joggers, cyclist all in picture enjoying it.
One more photo.
Even fixing your own car has become much harder. Not only do you need the tools, but also some sort of IT qualification because cars now have operating systems...
Heres another reminder that this govt used racist "anti co-governance" talking points to make kiwis vote against 3Waters in 2023 and now as a result we all have to pay for higher rates and a more expensive water plan. Racist bullshit is literally costing the taxpayer billions.
Just sobbed hardest I have since my mom died in 2020.
She missed these trials by a few months.
One of most ruthless cancers. Hard to fathom that maybe she'd still be here.
I feel such a hole inside.
In case you're wondering if we should fund mRNA research instead of another stupid war ... yes.
Sadly loyalty is not a two-way street.
Panoramic view of the pathway as is curves along the Te Whau River. The blue sky is reflected by the calm river's surface.
The entrance to the Te Whau Pathway from the State Highway 16 cycleway,
Lookin across Te Whau river to the far shore, with a power pylon reflected on the river's surface. It is a blue sky morning with white fluffy cumulus clouds.
The Roberts Field Reserve end of the pathway.
Lovely morning for a walk on the new very cool Te Whau Pathway section. The plan is to eventually connect the Waitemata & Manukau Harbours. #TeWhauPathway #Auckland #TamakiMakaurau #somethingBeautiful #aucklandscenes
