Theory: The hair gathered inside is the softer less pigmented undercoat and thus lighter in colour, while the one gathered outside is the coarser outer hair with colour pigments.

But the calicos probably don't care about the science.

Somehow the fur that stuck on the outer shell of the purifier (which the human had rolled into a ball for the picture) is darker, while the one gathered inside that stuck on the surface of the filter is lighter in colour.

What is the science behind that?

As it turns out, these calico girls aren't anti-men. They are anti-patriarchy and proponents of an egalitarian society.

A cause for celebration! 🎉

The human just realised they're (mostly) out of the woods & can remember our mealtimes & other humans' verbal instructions better.

Second Long Covid got them struggling with brain fog for about 6 months (again).

Junebug pawing her face had called for a nail-clipping spa day. It's been a while since her last one. She wasn't entirely pleased.

Somehow she's not been scratching her cardboard boxes and she prefers the sisal scratch post. Seems like that's not enough to keep her nails at bay.

There is something comforting when your cat,

despite having access to lots of other spaces,

at the end of the day just wants to stay in the same room as you or simply anywhere where she can get a good vantage point to keep an eye on you (and you her).

Do you ever wish that you could give the world to your cat,

but you could not,

so every time you go to sleep at night,

Apparently the answer to a good night's sleep is holding hands with someone you like on a rainy night drive,

while the answer to being woken up from said sleep is to have your ribs crushed under the softest-looking tiny tiger.

(I would like to add, that you should also be really careful about leaving things like Styrofoam pieces and packing peanuts around. Luna almost died from eating a packing peanut once because it caused a blockage in her intestines and she had to have surgery to have it removed)

After a week, Meowmi's poopoo looked much much better yesterday, with very little touch of diarrhea.

Yay!

Junebug the calico cat managed to get herself on the shower screen which is about 15cm wide.

Calicos are known to be determined kitties.

They have the visions (to get into mischief) of orange cats, the intelligence of black cats, and the calmness (read: unbothered) of white cats.

It takes a lot to wear them down and break their spirits.

May we also have their resilience 🧡

This month alone she's had to go to the vet 3 times for different reasons, it's hard not to feel like a bad pawrent 😓

Also spent a third of minimum wage on vet visits, so my metaphorical pocket is not happy too.

Vet thinks it might be that she got some bacterial infection from licking what she's not supposed to, and that messes up her guts. So far, her appetite is a little better.

She's starting to hate the never-ending courses of meds though but at least she doesn't have many teef to bite my fingers off.

Brought Meowmi to the vet where she got an anti-fever injection (her temp was at 39.1°C, not a fever, but it's affecting her comfort), and we left home with antibiotics, pro- and prebiotics.

Now I need to monitor her poopoo, hopefully it'll start to have some form soon.

And she's disinterested in high-value treats again after the toilet trip. Usually it's her who'd finish Junebug's food, now it's the other way around.

About an hour after the previous post, she strained in her toilet again, only producing a little runny brown concoction.
