A screen shot of a skeet from Merriam-Webster that reads - ‘SWIMS’ upside down is still ‘SWIMS’.
With a reply that reads - if you love geometric fonts where this would be true so much then why don't you use them in your body copy? no? not readable? go FUCK yourself; dictionary. they should call you hypocrictionary

Idk man, I just leave the lists lying openly on my desk every time I meet with a student. You know, to show dominance. You gotta do what you gotta do as a minority (Dutch) in academia

personally while "force majeure" was on the bingo cards I wasn't expecting to see phrases like "piracy" or "letters of marque" in contemporary discourse quite this much. maybe there's still hope for me to try out a swashbuckling era as a privateer

I really hate the - honestly very right wing - framing that it is somehow good to constantly be shocked and offended. This is simply not how the real world works *or should be expected to work*

Be ready to be shocked and offended at university, students told.

Be ready to be shocked and offended at university, students told.

These fools are about to be absolutely fuckass mad, just infuriated and offended beyond all belie, when they find out that truth does not consist in a proposition corresponding to facts but rather is a disquotational device used for blind ascriptions.

I probably would baulk at calling that monsterfucking properly, because I think the attitudinal dimension is part of it but not all of it but I definitely think it has that in common. Monsterfucking-adjacent behaviour, or something like that.

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

One upshot is that it seems possible for a specific individual to not be a monster, even if their species/race are (e.g. Buffy fucking Angel is not monsterfucking, even if I still think fucking Whedon vamps in general borderline counts). I don't hate that, but not sure what to make of it!

In other words part of what I think distinguishes a probable monster from probably not a monster is that the monster is assumed to dehumanize the would-be monster fucking (or not really think about them at all). Not really wanting to stake my career on this though, but it feels significant to me.

In the sense that monsters have a particular attitude to humans (looking down on them, considering them unworthy, considering them merely food) and therefore would not under normal circumstances consider fucking the monsterfucker, or would not think of doing it as a potentially erotic experience

3 days ago 2 0 1 0

Ok, so this has got me thinking more about what (to me) makes a monster in this context because I agree with Rafe that dwarves are not, and neither are gods (probably). But I think (some) space marines are! My best guess (again, for me) is that it is in part to do with the potential monster, too...

Is going to be shared by non chaos marines. I'm willing to consider it's a kind of threshold thing, though, so that non chaos marines share in whatever it is, but tend to not quite meet the threshold (but some will, like death company BA, probably, but I doubt they do a lot of fucking anyway)

3 days ago 6 1 1 0

That's so funny! My sense is that the mere fact of Chaos corruption isn't what makes CSM monstrous (e.g. a normal everyday human corrupted by chaos is not a monster for monsterfucking purposes), and so there must be something else that makes CSM monsters in this context and I think whatever that is

The second image is basically a 20 minute bike ride from where I grew up. My insides are probably covered in more PFAS than a frying pan as a result, but I do miss the spectacle in spring.

I used to think this, but then I realized (for many) monster-fucking includes vampires and now I'm leaning towards "probably". Also bc there are a lot of people horny for chaos marines (Night Lords particularly) which imo counts so being horny for non-chaos marines should at least be on the spectrum

Not British, so no! We did have a similar type of programme but I don't think I watched it religiously when I was that young. We learned about acid rain in school though, accompanied with pictures of statues that had melted to a pub of sand stone

I get that that might say a bit more about me - I ended up reading about war crimes for a living - but like, these people are also presumably into politics and social issues. Also I'm pretty sure at least 50% of the kids in my class were at least moderately concerned the rain would melt their houses

They also always seem to either make up a bunch of stuff about what life was like back then, or demonstrate that they were just a bit sheltered as children. As a child in the early 90s I was extremely worried about acid rain and the war in Bosnia.
