Serpent's ability to subsume and entrap souls and Spirits within herself to empower her, coupled with Mastema's ability to commune and borrow the power of spirits more easily make them a dangerous pair of enemies.

One of the few cases of a natural soul bond with a parasite. It is, perhaps, not a good thing for someone to be so naturally in tune with one.

Mastema, bonded host to the traitorous Serpent, is a vile individual. Unlike many other hosts and their Parasite Spirits where the host is corrupted and changed to mimic a natural soul bond and affinity, Mastema and Serpent had perfect compatibility.

It was only after The Shattering that she would break out, spurred on and guided by her Moon into a broken world. The guiding moonlight would find her in the service of yet another Carian princess, Ranni of the Darkmoon.

Together, they would usher in an Age of Stars.

Delving into forbidden, unhinged research and her subsequent theft of a Carian treasure saw her defeated and imprisoned in an Evergaol by the princesses she once served.

Stripped of her status, most of her magic and her research, she was locked away to rot in that gaol, transfixed by the moon.

A glintstone sorcerer of little renown, she served as both a knight escort and assistant to the young Carian princesses of the twin and full moons.

This time with them exposed her to a moon of her very own. From that night on, her very soul was tainted by lunacy.
