It's been so interesting to watch this unfold. Barnes & Noble and other big book chains shut indies down in the the 1990s (and on) and then Amazon came along and ate up all the book market share. Now people tired of big corporations are creating demand for more indies

Proud to have been Eastman's last opposing counsel, as we had an ongoing case before he was suspended. His clients Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene sued my clients, the Riverside Democratic Party and Women's March (and others). We won and, because the case was frivolous, they paid our fees.
JD just joined MAGA recently, too. And he'd also like to be the Pope of that.
"Federal and state tax returns are due to be postmarked by midnight, Wednesday, April 15."
If tax returns are timely if postmarked by Tax Day, regardless of when the IRS receives them, then shouldn't ballots be counted if postmarked by Election Day?

Cardinal Pierre is the guy who the head of Vance's Church (who he supposedly believes is the Vicar of Jesus Christ himself) personally sent to SPECIFICALLY to talk directly to the government Vance could lead at any moment.
Put another way, Pierre is literally God's personal messenger to JD Vance.
Wow. This has got to be the least flattering profile of anyone I have ever read.
I mean we also have to consider that the people who are left around him are so stupid that they actually think he’s brilliant.
Why not? They have great endorsement deals.
But I have no hope that her successor will actually be any better. And the fact that her Deputy and now acting replacement is literally Trump's criminal lawyer* demonstrates the problem.
(Emphasize however you want.)
It is unquestionably good for America that Pam Bondi is no longer the United States Attorney General, and the confirmation process for her successor will give the Senate an opportunity to extract key concessions (or, if not, a chance for Democrats to show the Republicans failure to do so).
Skenes getting rocked in Opening Day dramatically increases the chances of Shohei winning the Cy Young Award.

“Success has a thousand fathers; failure is an orphan.”
It’s not really more than a piece of either.
The NRA is different. It never really was bipartisan. It had a few Dems from rural states, but otherwise was a GOP subsidiary. Its success these days is true; but strictly in GOP primaries.
This has damaged AIPAC—and Israel—because it’s cost Israel support amongst a growing segment of the Democratic Party and the center. But Netanyahu doesn’t could never gain bipartisan support. So he has gone full Trump.
Of course AIPAC claims credit for political successes and denies blame for loss.
This is part of the hard-right takeover of AIPAC, engineered by one of the Republican party’s most effective operatives—Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu was a Republican hack when he was in Philadelphia, and he is now. And he’s bent AIPAC to support the Republican Party (and the GOP to support him).
So this discussion is getting the historical context and explanation wrong. AIPAC perhaps was not responsible for the bipartisan support for Israel; but it was part. Because AIPAC was bipartisan and focused on Israel. But now, as Favs points out, it tries to build support for Netanyahu.
I think you're being sarcastic, but at this point, it's true. What pressure does Congress have if it literally does nothing.
Gas prices at the corner of Tustin Ave. and 4th Street in Santa Ana were at $3.99 on the morning of Saturday, February 28.
This morning gas is $4.79.
80 cents (or 20%) increase in 10 days.

I’m worried this is the actual goal. Weiss is the least qualified person for the job she has of any person in America, and her performance is predictably bad.
Which suggests that they must have predicted this.
If you can destroy the news, then there are no common facts. And then nothing is real.
i love this because normies have no idea who bari weiss is or that ownership changed hands they just know cbs evening news sucks now
Go on.
I hear these news exec morons claim the public doesn't trust the media--but those claims are based on a small cadre of rabid cultists that the media consistently refuses to fact-check.
In response they take actions that destroy their organizations and actual credibility, so that no one trusts them.
I only regret that I have but one @washingtonpost.com subscription to cancel for my country.
(And I did that more than a year ago.)
To the extent this is the case (and there is some truth to it, I suspect), the irony is that the Epstein Files would probably have not become an issue if Harris had been elected. The Epstein Files was a fairly minor public point and not become a cause celebre until Trump made it one.
ICE is a rouge agency. It is rancid and corrupted. It must be abolished to bring its lawlessness to an end. The persons responsible for this must also be held to account. Only then can a responsible replacement be established.
That is to say that ICE has violated 3.5 different Court orders each day this month.
Any individual who had committed a fraction of this type of defiance of the Courts would be in jail. The officers of any private entity engaged in this sort of contempt would be in jail.
"Attached to this order is an appendix that identifies 96 court orders that ICE has violated in 74 cases. The extent of ICE’s noncompliance is almost certainly substantially understated. This list is confined to orders issued since January 1, 2026."
Back when Frank McCourt, Jim Tracy, and Paul DePodesta were screwing up the Dodgers, we'd say "for Tracy, fire the guy who hired Tracy, fire the guy who hired the guy who hired Tracy."
In that spirt, I say "fire Noem, fire the guy who hired Noem, fire the toadies who enable the guy who hired Noem."
Does he think he's the acting President of China too? Like Venenzeula?
If you believe that the Second Amendment gives you the right to carry a gun, then simply exercising that right can never be the justification for any government agent to take any action against you.
It's important to understand that the organizing principle of NATO was that the US would come to the aid of NATO allies.
The value for the US is that it is critical to have allies between us and a hostile foreign power to ensure that we never are directly attacked.
