Interesting project!
Q: 500k$ is ~£370k. You ask for total of 1k h of experimental time. 1h of MEG recording costs £400 here in Glasgow (+ more h for piloting and setting up each session) + war → helium costs exploding. Also need to pay RA to actually do it. Thoughts?

Our group has been looking at beta bursts for the last 5 years, but we do it a little differently than most - we group into types them based on their waveforms. In this open access article we lay out why and what we think this might mean

We have an open position, starting early 2026, to work on an exciting project aiming at better understanding the role of thalamo-cortical brain oscillations in perception with a comparative, cross-species (animal-human) component based on electrophysiology (incl. scalp EEG).
I feel like a similar point could be made about number of intracranial electrodes inserted into a human brain and brain model accuracy.

To me, what @neuralreckoning.bsky.social is thinking about seems to somewhat be addressed by the "teleology" aspect ("a component’s proper function explains ‘why it is there’ in a causal, evolutionary sense").
