Indeed. Complaints about redistricting are invalid. Republicans did it everywhere and invalidated a Constitutional Amendment so they could do it on explicitly racial lines.

There are two choices: use the same levers of power as Republicans do, or let them win. There is no "principled" opposition.

I say this as someone who believes we need to be much more critical and demanding of our elected Dems representing us. Those elected Dems, however, believe their job is to be critical of their own voters and lecture US about our failings instead of the other way around.

Part of the problem is, even here, Booker speaks as though the only people with agency or who bear any responsibility for the place we're at are Democrats or would-be Democrat voters. I think it's tiresome. Elected Dems rarely act proud to be Democrats or try to build around that message.
