This is a windlass that I invented as a tool for tightening the ropes in the Beeston Castle Rope Bed.
No idea as to its Bronze Age authenticity. But it does the job with ease.

Afaik one council in England requires such things in new builds taller than 5m. Not quite the same as the impression being created by the above message.
