'Make it stop.' For lawmakers, the shutdown feels like purgatory (but with Thai food) On Capitol Hill, there has been almost no sign of progress toward ending the shutdown. Senators say they aren't even formally negotiating, which begs the question: what are they actually doing?

Right-wing influencers shape nation and Trump’s understanding of Portland protests Social media personalities, conservative media outlets and the Trump administration itself are blending online content to serve the administration’s policies.

Right-wing media influencers are now being welcomed into the federal government to promote its messages. This kind of media access shows a deepening alliance between the Trump administration and an online world willing to misrepresent facts if it means furthering political goals.

MAGA Lite: What “Bari Weiss Conservatism” Is, and Why It’s Dangerous The new CBS executive isn’t exactly MAGA. But her polite Trumpism will still help destroy America as we know it.

It’s easy to cast Trump as antidemocratic and hostile to the rule of law. It’s harder to take on institutions and people such as Weiss who invoke ideas like the “free press” while actually advancing a right-wing agenda.

That's why this kind of conservatism is so dangerous. trib.al/JoYaK6M

A lot of libertarians who have been screaming in my replies about "authoritarianism" and "tyranny" for the last four years are conspicuously quiet right now.

Curious.

Mike Johnson rejects Hakeem Jeffries' demand to debate shutdown in primetime One House Democrat, asked about Johnson refusing to accept the proposal, told Axios: "Why would he?"

Mike Johnson just ducked Hakeem Jeffries’ shutdown debate challenge because it’s hard to argue when your entire plan is “blame Democrats while burning down the government’.

ICE shooting blank bullets at the protesters.

ICE shooting blank bullets at the protesters.

You know this would NOT be going on in another country.

They'd already have put a stop to this madness!

When are we gonna step up? I really want to know, dis! People are hurting. It's gonna get worse.

This is not good, y'all! They're trying to scare us, into submission, to not fight back!

I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason. Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

"[A]gents engulfed my car in tear gas, smashed my driver-side window, and pepper-sprayed my face.... I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. No explanation. No charges. No apology. One day, I was just told, 'you’re free to go.'" #KavanaughStop

Hmm. We were still fighting in Afghanistan during Trump’s first term. How come we didn’t win “easy” then? Why did Trump sign a one-sided agreement with the Taliban that allowed them to take over?

Straight up: I’m not onboard with farmers getting another bailout when so many voted for Trump two and three times. But what Trump is doing to them is brutal.

I want to believe they’ve learned their lesson this time, but I don’t.

Watch all the way through.

In 1976 we were so worried about corruption that Jimmy Carter had to divest himself from a peanut farm. Today Trump is raking in billions from myriad grifts with no consequences.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hold on a second. Answer the question. As Speaker, do you believe it's appropriate to use American cities as training grounds for the military, calling those people 'the enemy within'?

JOHNSON: I'm not comment on your characterization of what the president said.

This is a VERY well crafted lawsuit.
1) Plaintiff is natural born.
2) He was detained 2X in a fast-growing part of Alabama, not in a city that Brett Kavanaugh could be easily duped into believing was all migrants.
3) Unwarranted detentions were on private property.
4) He showed Real ID both times.
