John Roberts' characterization of his wife's income as "salary" is "misleading."
"Characterizing Mrs. Roberts' commissions as 'salary' is not merely factually incorrect; it is incorrect as a matter of law."
"The legal distinction between these terms is clear, undisputed, and legally material.
Senator Dick Durbin urged Chief Justice Roberts to open an investigation into Justice Thomas for conduct "that is plainly inconsistent with the ethical standards the American people expect of any person in a position of public trust."
Roberts ignored the complaint.
One of those donors, the whistle blower reported, received an early heads up about a coming decision in the Hobby Lobby case.
Unlike their 870 district-court and circuit-court colleagues, the nine Supreme Court justices are essentially exempt from compliance with the Judicial Code of Conduct.
In November an evangelical activist orchestrated an influence campaign targeting Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr.
This caused a network of well-heeled conservative donors to contribute to the Supreme Court Historical Society.
Then came the news that shortly after his confirmation to the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch sold his share of a vacation property to a Big Law Firm CEO.
He reported the transaction on his disclosure forms, but left the name of the buyer blank.
Thomas amended 13 years of financial disclosure forms, some of which wrongly claimed that his wife Ginni had no outside income.
In fact she'd been paid more than half a million dollars by the conservative Heritage Foundation.
Her questionable income is a funnel to Bribe a Supreme Court Justice.
Clarence Thomas Is Corrupt
Clarence Thomas accepted Millions in lavish, undisclosed gifts of travel and questionable real estate transactions from Harlan Crow.
The real-estate developer and GOP donor bought a house from Thomas but allowed his mother to remain.

The court has been rocked in recent weeks by a series of revelations about the behavior of sitting justices, including transactions and relationships that could lead to discipline in almost any other professional context.
The news of Jane Roberts's outsized earnings and the allegation that she traded on her husband's role comes as the Supreme Court faces a broader crisis of legitimacy.
Only 25 percent of Americans say they have "a great deal" of confidence in the court, the lowest since 1974.
This conflict of interest adds to the mounting questions about how Supreme Court justices and their families financially benefit from their special status.
Senate Democrats are vowing to investigate after a series of disclosure lapses by the justices themselves.
This smells like corruption.
"It's natural that they'd do anything they felt was necessary to be competitive."
Price's disclosures, which were filed under federal whistleblower-protection laws and are now in the hands of the House and Senate Judiciary committees,
They are being asked by the spouse of the chief justice for business worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and there is no one to complain to.
Most of these firms were likely appearing or seeking to appear before the Supreme Court.
"When I found out that the spouse of the chief justice was soliciting business from law firms, I knew immediately that it was wrong," the whistleblower, Kendal B. Price.
The law firms who were Jane's clients had nowhere to go.
After a long career as a lawyer, Jane Sullivan Roberts refashioned herself as a legal recruiter.
From 2007 to 2014 Jane Roberts generated a whopping $10.3 million in commissions, paid out by corporations and law firms.
That eye-popping figure comes from records in a whistleblower complaint.
John Robertsโ Wife Made Millions From Bribes
Jane Roberts was paid more than $10 million by a host of elite law firms, a whistleblower alleges.
At least one of those firms argued a case at the Supreme Court after paying hundreds of thousands of dollars.

You missed 7 sources?
10/ Put it together: edge-level moves away from dollar settlement + higher yields + debt swollen by deficit tax cuts = a compounding U.S. squeeze. If we treat reserve currency status like a birthright and debt like a joke, the debt bomb becomes daily life.

9/ Once you prove you will write giant checks to prevent instability, you teach others how to pressure you. โGive us a dollar lifeline or we pivot settlement channels.โ That is the incentive UAE is signaling. It is leverage aimed straight at U.S. financing.

8/ And Trump has already used Americaโs balance sheet as a political tool abroad. The Argentina bailout thread is the template: โsaveโ an ally with U.S. taxpayer funds, socialize the risk onto taxpayers, and let insiders harvest the upside from the deal terms.

7/ So the squeeze compounds: weaker marginal demand for Treasuries pushes yields up, and a larger debt stock means those higher yields translate faster into higher interest costs. That is how โbond mathโ turns into household pain and political austerity fights.
taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-boo...
6/ Now add scale: US total public debt is basically at $39T. That means every uptick in yields hits a much larger stock of debt. Higher rates are not abstract, they become higher debt service fast, squeezing budgets and forcing ugly tradeoffs like your Soc Sec. www.treasurydirect.gov/NP_WS/debt/c...
5/ Then comes the trap: refinancing. The U.S. rolls over huge amounts of maturing debt constantly. If yields are higher, refinancing costs jump.More of the federal budget becomes interest payments, leaving less room for services, investment, or economic shock absorbers.

4/ This is a margin story, not an overnight collapse story. You do not need the dollar to โloseโ tomorrow. You just need fewer forced dollar transactions and a little less marginal Treasury buying. Rates are prices, and prices move on marginal shifts.

3/Reserve currency status is not a vibe.It functions like a national interest rate discount.Strong foreign demand for Treasuries helps keep yields lower than they otherwise would be.Treasury yields then flow into mortgages, auto loans, & business borrowing. We'll all pay a price youtu.be/ZQR3HuilaDM
2/ Why it matters: for decades, a lot of energy trade cleared in US dollars. That creates structural demand for dollars and U.S. assets. If settlement shifts even partially, it reduces automatic dollar demand and increases U.S. vulnerability to financing stress. fortune.com/2026/04/20/u...
1/ UAEโs message is basically: โBackstop us, or weโll route more oil and trade in Chinese yuan.โ That is not noise. It is leverage aimed at the dollarโs global role. When that role erodes, the U.S. loses a hidden subsidy that helps keep borrowing cheap. #DV1 #ProudBlue #Voices4Victory #USDemocracy
