Great to see Wes Streeting today at the King's Fund to set out the Government’s ambition for children’s health.

But the real highlight? Young people themselves. They asked the toughest questions, set the right priorities, and reminded everyone in the room what’s truly at stake.

Ahead of next month's budget, it's time the government listen to the voices of young people and take bold action to reform and renew our national approach to children’s health.

Alongside colleagues from across the House, I've written to the PM calling for the 2-child benefit cap to be abolished.

The evidence is now overwhelming - it entrenches poverty, punishes families for their circumstances & undermines the futures of thousands of children.

Children and young people account for 25% of the UK population, yet just 11% of NHS expenditure.

It's time the government #PutChildrenFirst with a renewed approach to children's health through an NHS which is:

➡️Child-first;
➡️Digitally enabled;
➡️Preventative and community care-focused.

Children and young people account for roughly a quarter of the UK population.

Yet, only 5% of the total health research funding is dedicated to their needs.

This must change if we are to address the growing health inequalities faced by children across the UK.
