Clouds curl like memories, dark and deep,
Veiling the scars of labour’s might,
Echoes of hands that toil and weep.

I was thinking about writing today as well.
After reading a blog post about Deric.
It made me feel like I have known Deric, made me feel the loss the world experienced once he was gone.
Write the people you love into the world so they can live forever.

I really needed to see this thing I just saw on Tumblr:
Write it badly or it'll never be written
Write it badly or it'll never be written
Write it badly or it'll never be written
Write it badly or it'll never be written
Write it badly or it'll never be written
“I know, right.” My red-headed colleague grinned. “You’re gay and you can see it.”

Yesterday at his memorial, Deric’s mother said, “I am still pulling bricks off my chest,” and I felt that. Oh, did I feel it.
This amazing online event is happening tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21st. Susanna Clarke, @amalelmohtar.com, Gregory Maguire and I will be talking about fairy tales, fairy lore, and fairy tale literature for the @britishlibrary.bsky.social. Please join us!

I'm making one last push to let people know about this online talk -- sponsored by the British Library in conjunction with their current exhibition on fairy tales. The live stream starts at 7:30 tonight, but if you buy a ticket *before* the event you can watch it any time over the next 7 days.
A collage of fourteen by eight squares containing examples of gravitational lenses. Each example typically comprises a bright centre with smears of stars in an arc or multiple arcs around it as a result of light travelling towards Euclid from distant galaxies being bent and distorted by normal and dark matter in the foreground. In some rare cases the smearing is in a complete ring, creating a so-called Einstein Ring.

Very sharp image of a nodule in the Trifid Nebula showing protuding narrow jets emerging from the rounded tips of the gas clouds.
Zoom in on a clump of a nebula showing a grainy, fuzzy thin line that has a white arrow annotated to it. This is the jet from the protostar. Image is fuzzy taken with my telescope
Ohhhhh ... love doing these.
Left: Hubble Telescope image of a nodule in the Trifid Nebula. That's a thin stellar jet from young stellar object buried in the cloud
Right: same, but from my backyard telescope. Can just see jet!

Centaurus A never gets even 14 degrees above my horizon. I have a hill to my south and it just barely clears it. Here's a photo of it with my Celestron Origin and you can see the hill with blurry trees on it at the bottom of the image. @rami.spaceaustralia.com has a MUCH better view. ❤️ his video. 🔭
We’re on it! 🫡

@publisherswkly.bsky.social calls @wmstell.bsky.social’s Born Again Queer “fascinating” and “riveting." Check out the full review here:
The author looks like they are enjoying themselves and looking good doing so.
Oh. Buoy comes from buoyancy? Hence it is pronounced boy? (in my vernacular).
