I just signed a very exciting thing! Even took a photo of me e-signing this shiny thing...that might be in the shape of a contract.
Will share the full photo once I can announce what the thing is. For now, here's just my eyes smiling...a.k.a. the photo version of the 👀 emoji 😉
A new YA nonfiction book proposal is winging its way into the world. Mushrooms, meet the moon 👀🌛🍄
Did I mention I have a 👀👀👀👀👀👀?
Hope to be able to share with you all soon!!!
I told 18 about a 👀👀👀 thing and she said, "Yay! That's only a few years away!" 😅
She was being completely unironic; she's familiar with the pace of publishing.
And it IS a huge yay! And only 18 months away akshully. 💜
Handle changed! New @, same me. Why the pen name change? Because I'll be writing kidlit under the same name my dissertation was published under, for reasons I hope to be able to share with you soon 👀
Working on a very cool outline-shaped thing today!
Background Moodboard: A box of vials, an acrobat dangling from red fabric, a red Chinese lantern, a girl with gilded gold and a black lace shirt with bright red lips, red thread, a silhouette of an empress, the coliseum, a dandelion on fire, and an ancient stone doorway with a red and gold curtain in front. Snippet from SWINDLED by T. L. Coughlin Fate is a hedonist who thrives on taking more than she is owed. And love? Love is her intolerable younger sister.
Come one, come all!🔥🎪🧶

Image of chimney witches in the background. Text: An editor's guide to GIGGLE SOUP, a magical chapter book by Soleil Romanelli
Image of vegetables. Text: Pitch. When 9-year-old Luna and her 6-year-old brother Henry visit their Aunt Trudy, they’re in for a surprise: strange voices are coming from the chimney, saying nonsense. Aunt Trudy groans that she must have an infestation of chimney witches. When she tries to drive away the witches with a broom handle, they snatch her and she disappears up the chimney. Left alone, the children get help from Aunt Trudy’s neighbor, Mrs. Richmond, who says the only way to get rid of chimney witches is by making a pot of giggle soup. The children must make giggle soup—and survive some hilarious soup mishaps—to rescue their beloved Aunt Trudy.
Image of a bowl of soup. Text: Chimney witches don't: Wait for an invitation, Wear shoes, Enter through the front door. Do: Speak in rhyming slang, Move into your chimney, Steal your favorite aunt, Appreciate your soup
Image of vegetables. Text: “What did you do with our Aunt Trudy?” Henry demanded. “Suspicious snoop!” the witch with the purple shawl said. “Thank you,” Mrs. Richmond said. Aside to the children, she explained, “She means ‘delicious soup.’” Reach out: Rep: Lauren Bieker, FinePrint Literary. https://fineprintlit.com
