When you use AI to do your writing, you are telling your audience: “I deserve your attention, but you do not deserve my effort.”

I just had pretty much the same conversation with a Richard Hudson staff member.

I barely knew who he was, but he is just so unintentionally hilarious. The singing doll challenge had me weeping.

I finally learned who he is. I got in my car, and they were talking about him on NPR. I didn't want this for myself.

You have to watch US season 3 for Tom Sandoval.

I heard that song on the throwback R&B station and marveled that we used to regularly be served those kinds of vocals on the radio.

My best friend and I were pulled out of civics--a graduation requirement, mind you--for driver's ed. It was the period before lunch, so some days we got people's orders and went through a drive-through.

I had been dragging my feet on canceling my subscription, but this was the last straw.

I'm surprised that he heard about it.

I can’t believe medicine hasn’t come up with a better way to do mammograms. That is some primitive shit right there.

It's funny because I always heard that a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich.

Jesus Christ, are we still doing this? It's parody at this point.

She uses it as a simile. My bad.

It's funny that she uses driverless cars as a metaphor here. I use it too when I tell my freshman comp students why we won't use ChatGPT in a class that is meant to teach them to write: would you use a self-driving car in driver's ed?

Teachers don't have to accept everything that the tech industry tries to force on us. LLMs have not been good for students, and they are starting to realize it. I am going to continue to teach writing skills and critical thinking, even if it doesn't make any money for Sam Altman.

think i’ll pass on “proudly hailing” brad pitt, who physically abused his ex-wife so horrifically in front of his children that none of them will speak to him

Oval-framed daguerreotype portrait of Frederick Douglass, a prominent 19th-century African American abolitionist, writer, and orator. He wears a dark jacket, patterned waistcoat, white shirt, and bow tie. His expression is serious and resolute, with his wavy hair parted to the side. The photograph reflects his dignity and strength as a leader in the fight against slavery.

In July of 1852, Frederick Douglass delivered one of the greatest speeches in US history. Today it’s often presented in abridged form, though, and skips what seems like a long-winded introduction. If you read the intro closely, however, there’s an ingenious structure. THREAD👇🏽
