Community meetings that set land use policies are no good and also bad. If cities are going to be blue refuges, they gotta build homes, parks, bike lanes, community centers…all the things certain people reliably go to meetings to scream about.
And note that's just in the City of Vancouver.
Far more housing is being built in adjacent communities like Burnaby, New Westiminster, and especially Surrey which is poised to within a year or 2 to have a larger popilation than Vancouver

It takes awhile for things to congeal.
Twitter had become a fairly universal town square. Now there are a plethora of small neighborhood squares. Hopefully they will gradually congeal into one. But will they?
