My perspective in The Transmitter on the role of AI and neuroimaging in advancing women’s brain health.
“To put it bluntly, we need to recruit more AI researchers to be interested in women’s brain health, and we need to make women’s brain health researchers more fluent in AI.”

🚨 New preprint: Objective Quality Assessment for Precision fMRI
Precision functional mapping (PFM) enables individual-level brain network studies — but demands more, and better, data.
We introduce an objective framework to determine when a dataset truly supports interpretable, replicable PFM.
Promotional poster for a medical lecture titled ‘Neuroactive Steroids and Perinatal Mental Health’ presented by Dr. Lauren Osborne, MD, Associate Professor of OB-GYN and of Psychiatry, Vice Chair of Clinical Research in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine. The poster features a professional headshot of Dr. Osborne, a woman with shoulder-length dark hair and glasses wearing a black blazer over a geometric patterned top, smiling warmly against a light purple geometric background. Event details show Monday, March 9, 2026 at 8am PST/11am EST, with instructions to register for the virtual lecture and Q&A. Institutional logos appear at bottom: University of California, Weill Cornell Medicine Radiology, and Cornell Bowers CIS College of Computing and Information Science. The Ann S. Bowers Women’s Brain Health Initiative logo appears at top.

‼️🥳New publication from
@giorgia-picci.bsky.social and co in Journal of Neuroendocrinology.
🔍Using a dense longitudinal MRI design, this study maps intraindividual pituitary trajectories in 3 women before, during, and after pregnancy🤰🧠.

Reading up on precision imaging & struck by these findings of greater hormonal variation - & impact on brain networks - in the sampled man vs woman!
Another nail in the coffin of the 'hormonal/hysterical' woman?!

Photo of a thermometer showing high temperatures (over 80 degrees farenheit and 28 degrees celsius) against a backdrop of blooming white flowers and a blue sky. Overlaid orange text reads: ‘Turn Up The Heat. Pass AB-432: The Menopause Care Equity Act.’ The image connects rising temperature imagery to advocacy for menopause care legislation.
Turn up the heat with us. We have ONE week to ask @cagovernor Newsom to sign California’s AB-432 Menopause Care Equity Act. Live in California, have 30 seconds, and want to support the bill? Go to tinyurl.com/AB432-suppor... to let @cagovernor Newsom know that women’s health is not an elective.

When @laurapritschet.bsky.social & Pavel Shapturenka set out to build the 28&Me + 28&He datasets, I don't think any of us could've predicted the spectacularly creative ways the datasets would be used years later. That's the power of open science. 👇🏼

With the power of the people behind it, the California legislature just passed the Menopause Care Equity Act. This is history in the making—finally addressing a health gap that touches millions of women. Now, it’s down to one signature. @governor.ca.gov, the pen is in your hand. 🖊️
