Being into cats feels so debasing. You give everything over to this animal — time, labor, money — but when you want them to sit next to you, they refuse and jump away. When they finally sit on your lap, you sit motionless to the point of physical pain, afraid to disturb them. Humiliating.

20+ years ago I recorded my first pack of bottle-baby rescues when they were finally old enough to eat wet food.

I don’t remember them being missing when we had him as a rescue but it’s always possible he lost them on the street before we got him, it would explain why he bleps so much. It doesn’t look like the gums are inflamed or the teeth are diseased but maybe ask his vet the next time he goes for an annual

Say hi to Cheddar! 🧀 He's a 7-year-old, chubby-cheeked gentleman who’s officially on to better things. This handsome tomcat was dumped on a neighbor’s front step when his family moved away, but now Cheddar is safe at YAH. His glow-up already started with a neuter and dental. Next up, a forever home!

We also have two SnuggleSafe discs— one on standby to heat up as the one they are using cools down so the temp can stay consistent (because they can’t be reheated until completely cool).
We use Miracle Nipples and Pet Ag bottles (take the standard nipple out of the collar the petAg bottles come with, stick the miracle nipple in the collar instead). We only use Breeder’s Edge kitten formula (we know some people really like Fox Valley but in my experience it constipates them).

Well it seems that now almost all the Brunch Bunch have stopped gaining weight (except for Pancake who has kept on trucking), so we’re pretty sure mama Mimosa’s milk is drying up already. Everyone has little fangs and premolars coming in so it’s time to start offering The Meats supplementation.
We attempted a bottle but she wasn’t having it. We tube fed tonight but she seems to have barfed it up so we are going to attempt Mommy & Me time tomorrow.
Me too, it’s too soon to say for sure but the very experienced folks at the neonate kitten rescue suspect as I do that they are just not getting quality nipple access with 5 chonky babies and a small mom.

The Brunch Bunch has been growing great until the last couple days when Coffee and Eggs Benedict suddenly put the breaks on their weight gain. We are going to try a few things to get them gaining again but so far they seem to be outwardly healthy. They are 3 1/2 weeks old and SO cute.
