There are three primary reasons, and one contributing factor in why the oil companies are raising gas prices right now, even though the gas they are selling was produced months ago and they have ready access to domestic oil. 1. Greed. 2. Greed. 3. More greed and lastly, greed.

With gas prices going up rapidly, and likely to stay there for a long time, that's a mistake. However, as an EV owner, I can say that the charging infrastructure still sucks for long distance trips, making hybrids much more practical.
