"Shadow" is one of the most misused psychological terms, and was the main impetus behind me getting my masters in Depth Psych. Father of the concept, Carl Jung, was infamously annoyed when his own students misused the word saying, "This is all nonsense! The shadow is simply the whole unconscious."

Certain trigger warning expectations make me, and my clients, feel like we have to make others feel comfortable about a painful traumatic experience we did not ask to go through. This adds another layer of guilt to the experience. I am a stronger person growing up without them.
