"In every era of U.S. history, queer folks carved out their spaces despite criminalization, discrimination, and violence. We must have faith that we can do it again now." The inimitable @raquelwillis.com's words to trans youth in @teenvogue.bsky.social

I loved that too!
βThereβs no stopping us tonight
We wonβt go down without a fight
Weβve got the goal within our sights
Trans rights are human rights!β
Pax Ressler really gave us something beautiful in this piece, Iβll be shouting it forever.

This song was commissioned for Columbus Gay Men's Chorus and I was so proud to perform it with them last year at a festival full of other queer choruses who are now adding it to their performances. Check out the Portland Lesbian Choirβs gorgeous rendition! π₯°

I know Iβm kind of Going Through A Lot right now because Iβm crying about a post a friend made about house plants. ππͺ΄
Itβs meeeeeeee! ππππ
ππ»ββοΈ I already have an awkward, queer, nerdy sibling, but theyβre super great so Iβd definitely take another. Iβm also all of those things. Welcome to the fam! π³οΈβπ
Text of the poem βGood Bonesβ by Maggie Smith Life is short, though I keep this from my children. Life is short, and Iβve shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways Iβll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and thatβs a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children. For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird. For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real shithole, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful.

Close up photograph of a black and white cat named Kes with a little black mustache and goatee lying on a mint green blanket and looking very cozy.
Just the worldβs cuddliest cat.
This was my favorite piece Iβve ever gotten to sing with Columbus Gay Menβs Chorus. I cried every time. Performing it at GALA Festival in the summer and then hearing how many choruses are wanting to perform it themselves now was so cool. I hope my trans pals hear this and feel strengthened by it. π³οΈββ§οΈ
This is one of my favorite things weβve done with CGMC. β€οΈπ
