Dear Trans Kids, You Don't Need the Government's Permission to Exist Activist and journalist Raquel Willis offers crucial advice to trans and non-binary youth.

"In every era of U.S. history, queer folks carved out their spaces despite criminalization, discrimination, and violence. We must have faith that we can do it again now." The inimitable @raquelwillis.com's words to trans youth in @teenvogue.bsky.social

β€œThere’s no stopping us tonight
We won’t go down without a fight
We’ve got the goal within our sights
Trans rights are human rights!”

Pax Ressler really gave us something beautiful in this piece, I’ll be shouting it forever.

Banned Together
Banned Together YouTube video by Portland Lesbian Choir β€œPortland Lesbian Choir”

This song was commissioned for Columbus Gay Men's Chorus and I was so proud to perform it with them last year at a festival full of other queer choruses who are now adding it to their performances. Check out the Portland Lesbian Choir’s gorgeous rendition! πŸ₯°

I know I’m kind of Going Through A Lot right now because I’m crying about a post a friend made about house plants. 😭πŸͺ΄

πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I already have an awkward, queer, nerdy sibling, but they’re super great so I’d definitely take another. I’m also all of those things. Welcome to the fam! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Text of the poem β€œGood Bones” by Maggie Smith

Life is short, though I keep this from my children.
Life is short, and I’ve shortened mine
in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways,
a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways
I’ll keep from my children. The world is at least
fifty percent terrible, and that’s a conservative
estimate, though I keep this from my children.
For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird.
For every loved child, a child broken, bagged,
sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world
is at least half terrible, and for every kind
stranger, there is one who would break you,
though I keep this from my children. I am trying
to sell them the world. Any decent realtor,
walking you through a real shithole, chirps on
about good bones: This place could be beautiful,
right? You could make this place beautiful.

Just the world’s cuddliest cat.

This was my favorite piece I’ve ever gotten to sing with Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus. I cried every time. Performing it at GALA Festival in the summer and then hearing how many choruses are wanting to perform it themselves now was so cool. I hope my trans pals hear this and feel strengthened by it. πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ
