i've been doing convention data for DFL campaigns for 8+ years and i need y'all to understand that maddie is one of the sharpest political data minds in MN.
these frey guys love to wail that the "math ain't mathing" when in reality the numbers were never on their side (also they're bad at math)
totally, and i'm not ruling out the possibility that these newcomers are simply recycling a bad faith talking point they received from someone else (e.g., the folks @taylr.bsky.social mentions below)
likewise, same to you!
totally, i'm sure a lot of lydia's older supporters are proudly anti-progressive and anti-aisha. i was just shocked by the number of young folks **in lydia t-shirts** that had done so little homework.
here's how i'd classify ~40% of the lydia supporters in 10-7:
- under 35
- first-time caucus goers
- led to believe that aisha is the status quo candidate
- no opinions on the aisha other than some lydia talking points (see quote below)
a single phone call from aisha's campaign could sway them imo
really hoping that @metrotransitmn.bsky.social expands upon this partnership. imagine being a transit rider in the twin cities and being able to purchase fares via an app that isn't trash!
very excited about this.
as someone that works in tech and despises surveillance capitalism, @transit.app has always been intriguing to me b/c it's one of the few good free apps out there where the more you engage with it, the better the transit experience is for you and your neighbors.
never thought i’d see the day where both sides of my personality (react state management, channel tres) would be featured together in a ben holmes whiteboarding video

Aisha and several of her colleagues speaking at a press conference.
Hi, I'm Aisha. I'm a renter from Whittier, I come to local government through the labor and immigrants rights movements, & I have the privilege of representing Ward 10 on the Minneapolis City Council. I’m excited to announce I’m running for re-election.🧵

A tweet by @aswarformayor (Aswar Rahman) from August 6, 2017. Aswar is pictured holding a plastic water bottle in front of a large truck that has an American flag and hundreds of water bottles.
A reply tweet by @kanadgupta of a City of Minneapolis drinking fountain. Above the fountain is a sign that says "You bought bottled water and spent WHAT? Minneapolis tap water costs less than a half cent a gallon."
lol digging through his old tweets and lo and behold:
asswater... a simpler time
ok if we're talking hilarious 2017 minneapolis mayoral campaigns, it is important that aswar rahman and his giant truck of plastic water bottles are a part of this conversation
erykah badu!
ope @vordgi.com beat me to it 🫣 (i'm still a bluesky noob nothing to see here)

A screenshot of the Network panel inside Chrome Developer Tools, which shows that the original URL that Jason posted is a 500 Internal Server Error
the page appears to be responding with a 500 so that'd be my guess!
obsessed with the idea of a media bias analyst reading a damning investigative piece on minneapolis police use of force and another on snowplow naming contest submissions and thinking "yes yes these are the same"
if you're in the middle of a post and you accidentally hit the back button in your web browser, there's no prompt to discard your draft and you lose everything 🫠
i got interviewed by the nyt for a tweet that took exactly one (1) braincell to write
this is the way. hello!
