An A4 envelope with hand-written notes on it proclaiming it to be a pack of RRDCCG cards, which are clearly repackaged old one page games single sheets we had in the back room
The back of the same envelope, explaining that we werenβt allowed to do blind boxes at UKGE to shift our old stock but CCGs are exempt, so here we are. Ours are way bigger than other cards and you only need one to play
The six games inside; orcball, system shutdown, WAKE., and three other absolute stone-cold sleeper hits youβve all been sleeping on
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome
This is really excellent because now it gives me a firm place to put 'bigfoot', which is the bottom right hand corner.
Sometimes things just regular suck!
Genuinely though, I think this is a good and intuitive tool. Bravo!
Tickled to be the 687th π on BackerKit for Slugblaster: Game of the Year Edition. Thanks @mythworkshq.bsky.social
But for real though, Slugblaster kicks ass, and I can't wait for a pizza box of my very own π€
We both love original soundtracks, but Cory like, DOUBLE loves them. We dive into not just some of our favorites, but how we engage with them and what we find appealing in the first place. We cover a lot of ground in this one! Also? GOOBER MUSIC.
Here at Halftone Takes, we love a fake band. From Powerline to Sex Bob-omb, we just have a grand ol' time whenever these goobers show up on screen. But it's really a pretty broad umbrella, and there's more here than you might expect. Join us as we dig in!
Adam loves The Lord of the Rings. He is not ok. He is absolutely twisted on these rings right now and needs to be saved from himself.
We got a very special guest!
Voice Actor Scott Whyte groans about his job. Turns out efforts are a lot of effort! There's invisible layers of sound design that go into the media we love, and we hope to get a little glimpse into the work that goes in behind the scenes.
This is stupid, but v1 of my Fast & Furious Bingo Card Generator is now up on itchio! This was mostly made for me to practice in Godot, which I am officially a fan of. I hope to continue to expand this to a broader Trope Bingo, but for now, I'm pleased with this.

There's more media than anyone could consume in a lifetime. In this episode, Adam interviews Cory about reviews & recommendations. How do you discover what to play next? How seriously should you take it when someone recommends something? And what if someone recommends something that isn't for you?
Just learned about this. Looks neat!
Unfortunate reality is that reviews are rare. I hope you're able to find success, this is a cool project.
Also, did you catch HotTone Takes, our Hot Ones Style Livestream Spectacular??
Statistically, you didn't! It's a pretty fun time as we play a game to guess how well we know each other as we review 60 Disney animated features!
Image of the vinyl collectors edition of the Across the Spiderverse soundtrack. It's rad.
My Across the Spiderverse Vinyl has arrived. Hell yeah.
He has a dog's brain and I love him for it
As someone who doesn't like Bigfoot, ok, this is very funny.
THIS SATURDAY
Join hosts Adam & Cory for HOTTONE TAKES, a special livestream experience where we eat hot wings, see how well we know each other, and get spicy!
I've also made this awesome promo for it, and
trust me, IT'S WORTH LISTENING TO
In this episode, Adam interviews Cory on his perspective. What does it mean to be unique in the media landscape? We look at John Carter of Mars, Shudder Island, Shovel Knight, and much more trying to get to the bottom of it.
Weβre wrapping up horror month with a banger- Signalis (rose-engine) has emerged from the backlog and brought tons of fun story theories with it. Chris and Shane from Retro Hangover join me to discuss this great game, with no spoilers for a while! Links below π
In this lengthy episode, we fall in love with Stop Motion as a medium all over again. We also take a special detour to talk about Phil Tippit's Mad God and the excellent new wood-carved short, Hidari.
Hell yeah, I love rating games, even if it doesn't seem to do much
Kids, am I right? What's up with them? In this very clean and appropriate for all ages episode, we interview our first ever guest the wonderful Steve Downer as we ask him about how his relationship with media has changed and been informed by parenthood. He's an absolute delight, don't miss this one!
Best thumbnail of all time
Happy Saturday folks! We'd like to give a shout-out to new patrons and absolute superheroes @adamboocherry.bsky.social and @randomsome.bsky.social ! π Thank you both so much ππΌπ§‘
Your pleas fall upon deaf ears
My wife just said that because it's Spooky Season, maybe we should watch The Fifth Element because she's never seen it

I don't think you know what movie The Fifth Element is
I haven't shouted about my TTRPG inspired by Resident Evil once yet!
Check out Enter the Survival Horror, it's cool and has some Disco Elysium DNA in there.

For this weeks HTT, we discuss the Movie Theater Experience!
What do we get out of going to the movies, when home media is so good these days?? Well... lots of things actually! Join us for a fascinating discussion on the different methods, circumstances, and conditions under which we enjoy cinema!
