I get through abusive situations by helping people w/the hard lessons & circumstances I am unwillingly subject to

It's one of very few coping skills I've got

I'm going to bookmark every "You Helped Me" interaction so I can re-read them when other people devalue me

Over the years, a few mutuals have told me my posts & replies have helped them, sometimes immensely

And that helps me just as much as kind words & reassurance replies to my Struggle Posts

Because I want to give more than I take

Because we deserve to GIVE kindness as much as receive it

If I didn't have my Bluesky community, I would be engaging in self harm & sinking into a deep well of self hatred

probably even worse than what I did to myself during a 13 year life-threatening abusive relationship

That's a place I'd never return to, or so I thought

I spiral here bc so many of my mutuals care about me & they let me care about them

And we share the philosophy that people being open about their struggles has meaningful value

Other than my partner, who is awesome in ways I can't even articulate,

Bluesky & True Crime YouTube Chat are my only social outlets

That's sort of by choice - my life circumstances rendered me incapable of having offline friendships

Even with the most understanding & supportive people

There are a lot of really good podcasts about it

And a dedicated group of pple all over the world trying to use current tech and knowledge to figure out exactly what happened, including animaters who worked on the Disney Frozen movies!

I know we will never have a definitive answer tho
