I was finally able to test the install on the Retro GEM by @pixelfx.co for the GameCube. Overall, very straightforward install. Not very complicated at all.

Thank you @pointerfunction.bsky.social for this xStation mount. It’s brilliant how everything snaps together so nicely!

Clean work!

Had the series when I was a kid. My brother and I loved playing it.

It was always the worst when you were a few RP away from the next tier. That’s usually when you’d get a teammate who decided to teach their friend how to play the game…. In gold 1.

I used to solo queue ranked. Highest I got was diamond 1 on my own. Brain dead play by random teammates is what caused me to quit the game.

Decided to make my own xStation mount, which can be printed without any supports! This is the 5000 series, wanna do the same for 1000 series too.

Don’t ever sweat it. This isn’t a competition.

I am working on setting up a Game Boy PCB send in service for Australia. I've been saying it for ages so this time take the tm off soon

This is great. I occasionally get requests from Australia. I can refer them to your site.

Thank you, Nat! That truly means a lot coming from you.

First time seeing one of these cart readers. A customer sent this in because the PC wasn’t detecting the game. This company went defunct so they couldn’t get support. The board was clearly hand soldered and done very poorly. I’ll rework the board, but the culprit was a bad pin.

I always test the console before I do anything to it. It was working like a champ.

It really needed a clean 🤢

A customer dug an original N64 Digital out of their couch and sent it to me to install it for them. Console got a full system recap and a much needed cleaning.

They do that for the in store pickups. I refuse to order anything for in store pickup. Target will put it in a bag, tie the bag shut, and put the pickup slip on the bag.

Glad I was able to secure the 30th Anniversary LE DualSense. Also, Best Buy is always my last resort when ordering anything online. They always put the least amount of effort into packaging things.

I was working on a similar adapter and used a 3d printed holder for the same reason. Over time it melted. Take a look at the Hakko Omnivise if you need something more robust.

Also found a suspect via going to the memory bank controller. Patched that up as well.

Customer sent in a copy of Pokémon Crystal for a garbled Nintendo logo on boot. He said that Reddit told him to reflow the ROM and SRAM to fix the issue. Reflowing those chips will not fix that broken trace 😅

You can get the FX-951 pretty cheap on clearance now. Tequipment has it on clearance for $121 for the station only. I already had a spare hand piece.

I’ve tried messing with hot air. It’s way too slow for me. I can decap an entire board with 2 stations in 1/3 the time.

What’s everyone’s preferred way to remove SMD aluminum electrolytic capacitors? I personally like to use 2 independent soldering stations like tweezers.
