a black and white typography edit that reads "every future i dream of includes trans people". the text is inside a black circle. inside the circle is stars from the cygnus constellation. around the circle is an ornate border with floral flourishes and birds.
i cannot imagine a future without trans people because without trans people there isn't a future

hmmm⊠should I work on the course content for my âzines & archivesâ unit starting in a week in a half or another ancient mesopotamia themed k/s ficâŠ.
Much of my youth revolved around the website ZineLibrary. It went down around Occupy in a massive loss for a movement whose ideas and knowledge mostly doesn't circulate online but in person.
Anyway I've put it back online with a *thousand* anarchist zines:

If you RTd the news of Fobazi's passing, work in LIS, or have ever uttered the phrase "vocational awe", it's time to put your money where your mouth is. We owe her that much at least. Please donate.
@fobettarh.bsky.social has made such a positive difference in the LIS field and a personal impact on many of us. We will feel her loss forever. Right now her family is asking for folks to please continue to donate to her gofundme to help cover costs. Please donate and share: gofund.me/6629f3bd9
If you'd like to honor Fobazi, you can contribute here, and help Elena navigate expenditures amidst grief and support Chloe, too.
Photo by G. Solecki/A. PiÄtak of a small figurine of a bear carved out of amber between 9600 and 4100 BC. The amber is a deep translucent orange. The display lighting makes it glow in places. The bear's head is carved to show ears, mouth, nostrils and eyes. A hole runs through the bearâs torso, suggesting it was threaded onto a cord. Dimensions: Length 10.2 cm, Height 4.2 It was discovered in SĆupsk during peat mining in 1887. According to the museum catalogue ââShortly after its discovery, the figure underwent conservation work to restore its original appearance as it was covered with a layer of dull patina from the exposure to the minerals contained in the peat. Already at that time, at the end of the 19th century, it was assumed the restoration had gone too far. The figure was stripped entirely of patina, the anatomical features of the animal were emphasised, the eyes and nostrils were sharply drawn, and the amber was carefully polishedâ. In 2013, a competition was organised by the Education Department of the National Museum in Szczecin, for children to choose a name for the bear. The winning name was âSĆupcioâ,

I AM BEYOND EXCITED!!
Star Trek The Original Series scene. We're on an away mission but did not dress appropriately. In Picture 1, Bones and Spock are standing outside against a frozen rock wall, huddled and appearing very cold, hands wriggling and arms crossed. It's snowing and they're squinting as if its blizzardy. Spock is shouting. Closed caption reads, "We're in a wilderness of artic characteristics." Picture 2, only now with Bones yelling. Closed caption reads, "He means it's cold!"
Alt in pic 1!

On the far Western shore of Middle Earth rests the Grey Havens, One of the last bastions of the elves in this world. This is CĂrdan the Shipbuilder's domain. For years now he has fashioned the vessels that will take the remaining Noldor and Sindar to the undying lands of Valinor, in Arman, hidden from the mortal realm at the end of the Third Age but for those who take the ships from this harbor (the only two exceptions to this being Gimli and Legolas, and Samwise, both many years from now). One of the great ships sits at a beautiful dock: Galadriel and Celeborn stand in front of CĂrdan, watching as Elrond gestures to an elderly Bilbo Baggins to board. Gandalf will join them and Frodo also, after a tearful goodbye. They will sail into the sea and soon join the Valar and Mayar and all the rest of the Elves. Frodo and Bilbo's time there will feel so short, mortals in a timeless realm, but it will be peaceful and joyous and filled with food and drink and song and harmony, and be a fitting resting place for the ring bearers. And Gimli of course, the one exception to a non-Elf ring bearer granted amnesty in Valinor, because unlike the movies, in the books he is the poet and chief moral officer of the third age, and brought peace between the two long rivaled races.

Were I twenty leagues distant from the southern wilds, still my bold strength would not wail. This is the bravest of days.
When Lindsay interviewed me back in the spring I knew that they were talking to other folks too, but I'm especially thrilled to be published in such good company as my friends Maigen and Margaret from @invisiblehistories.bsky.social.
