Ah, the Hollywood-inspired fantasy... Apart from moving along the ground on two limbs, name a practical combat application for a bipedal robot that couldn't be accomplished faster, more efficiently, and much cheaper (usually 1/20-1/50 the price) by a contemporary, flying or wheeled combat drone.

Hard to go wrong with Kurosawa. It's easy to see why and how so many American directors were inspired by his work. It would be hard for me to rank my favorite directors, but Kurosawa's gotta be in the top three for me.
You're still expecting a specific end goal to the information gained from this exercise. That's not how science works. There's math, load ratios, adaptive motion curves applied to physical systems, etc. If you think bipedal locomotion for bots is the only outcome of value here, you lack imagination.
I've only heard from friends that the first one has a small handful of "unfair bullshit," but the second is a more polished and fair experience. I plan on playing the second one first, and if I enjoy it and want more, I'll play the original.
