A group of Ecuadorian fishermen survived a US drone strike, were detained at gunpoint, hooded, phones wiped, ship blown up, disappeared to El Salvador, then released without charge.
“They knew we were fishermen. Even the Salvadorian authorities said things had been handled very badly.”

“… of the children who were detained, nearly two dozen were held in custody for more than 20 days, in violation of a longstanding legal settlement. Teens who were detained alone were sent to Christian youth shelters in Michigan, which made it hard for their families to find them.”
NEW: Immigrants at the largest Midwest ICE detention center in Baldwin MI are beginning a hunger strike.
One person has died there since the privately owned prison re-opened in June 2025 from what his family believes is medical neglect.

Hiya Arbor Ypsi folks!
I know I have mutuals who are Umich GEO members and I have a *very* quick question. If you are or know someone who is, could you shoot me a DM? Thanks!
How is that not a painting. Beautiful.
Happy swimming when the time is right! We're freezing overnight so it's probably gonna be a bit until I try again. But soon enough. ❤️💧
Inland lake so it wasn't bad, we've had enough warmer days. I absolutely suck at feeling water temps but whatever "it was okay for wading, but under 5 minutes of proper swim strokes was more than enough" is.
Look, ma!
TY @michiganadvance.com for covering!
Please send a note in support of our unionization effort if you haven't yet. ❤️💧

Over 30,000 school support employees, many living in poverty, won a landmark campaign in LA.
While LA schools claimed poverty, SEIU 99 educated its members about the school districts $5 billion reserve fund
Not in Ann Arbor but definitely appreciated the sirens in Ypsi last night.
Highly, ironic that they just closed the city survey on whether to keep the sirens. engage.a2gov.org/siren-review.
Good moment for a motion to reconsider #a2council?
Safe here but parts of Ann Arbor got tore up from the looks of it (like part of the roof of Yost literally tore up). Power out at the office too.
Not hearing any of injuries, thankfully. Knock wood.
Tenderizing the heart 🥲
Ahhh—exposing the corporate enablers of ICE is good. Brave and laudable for this employee to blow the whistle. ✊

Exactly 💯
Alex Crawford: "She moves her fingers.. but with nearly half her body burned in an Israeli air strike, any movement at all is painful. Her name is Zaynab, she's only 12, and her entire family was killed in the same attack"
Barrera said her husband said the smell of human feces in the toilet caused a fellow detainee to vomit and, in turn, created a chain of people vomiting. She said her husband is asthmatic and has not received medication to treat his condition. The lack of medicine and the stress of the overcrowded holding cell has left him short of breath and teetering on the edge of an asthma attack, Barrera said. ICE did not immediately respond to questions on April 10 about the conditions of the Mesa or Phoenix facilities. After the publication of this article, Barrera told The Arizona Republic her husband was transferred to the ICE facility at San Luis Regional Detention Center at about midnight. The San Luis Regional Detention Center is in Southwestern Arizona and has the capacity to hold 700 people.
This is horrific. A U.S. citizen describes the facility in Arizona that her husband was brought to while he waited to be put on a deportation flight. Dozens of people were crammed into tiny cells, there was a "chain of people vomiting" from filthy toilets, no medical care, and only one meal per day.
I don’t know if anyone needs to hear this, but if you give someone money that doesn’t mean you get to tell them how to spend their money
Wayne and Monroe County too now
If you're up and in Washtenaw County idk get in a basement like now
My dork ass self taking a selfie at dusk after a hike with wet hair and dress (don't worry about it I had swim separates on under) with a lake behind
Pretty lake with a picnic table and gentle ripples on a blue sky white cloud kinda day.
It is April 14th, I'm in Michigan, and I got my first lake swim in of the year.
To be honest I could've gone earlier. Cold (obs) but not unbearably so at all.
Anyway, lake pics. As I'm wont to do.
