There is also a picture of a player wearing this jersey. The word "pirates" is arched, with pointy bottoms, to look kinda sorta almost like the arches of the bridges that you pass under while crossing them.

I have walked, biked, and drove over these bridges literally hundreds of times and did not see the reference until explained here. Now I can *kinda* see it. Great concept, poor execution.
