A college degree shouldn ot be relied on as an indicator of "can read, write, count, and reason". That's not what colleges are built to do. We are preventing schools from developing adults with basic skills by defunding, book bans, kicking teachers around and then we make surprised pikachu face.
I think we also need to accept that even "good" education in the US is really bad. Our system teaches reading too late and deprioritizes civics and humanities. Our STEM education is also memorization based instead of lab-based, hampering critical thinking. It hamstrings even high performers.
Worst-case scenario there's always the option of shamelessly admiring Leon, who joins Lady D in the rarefied cohort of female-gaze character designs.
RE games also have this general trend of becoming sterile with the enemies at the end, which is wierd because in RE2 the lab monster designs were genuinely frightening and I haven't seen that since. Hoping for the best in the final act here but keeping expectations low.
Unfortunately REquiem took a turn into being bad silly after being very good silly for most of it. Alternating ooey-gooey survival horror with big awesome shooty is a good formula, but you gotta keep alternating, because you can't really escalate the shooty that much before things get dumb.
