The Ox-Bow Incident, by Walter Van Tilburg Clark.
Brave, courageous, and bold.
Yes
The image of those guys coming out of the brush, with Fonda last, combined with the music, is almost supernatural.
I'm watching this tonight on a big screen at a local theater.
I played this on the eight track in my Vega until they both fell apart.
I'm so sorry.
"You're an unprincipled man Hud."
I actually got to do a scene with him in this. He was completely bonkers (it seemed) but also entirely friendly and accessible.
A few weeks ago I was backing my car out of the carport and heard a weird clanging. I looked all over the car, couldn't figure out where it came from and got depressed about having to tow it to the garage when my wife said "could it be this?" and I saw some dang squirrel had left a nut in a wheel.
When I finally read the book, long after having seen the movie many times, I realized it set in the very area of Florida where I grew up.
It's a very interesting movie.
I just read a very good book by Colm Toibin entitled The Magician, which is a sort fictionalized biography of Mann.
It's a great movie. As a kid I read the comic book well before I chance to see the film.
I'm a serious fan of The Ox-Bow Incident and he's terrific in it.
I liked the book and I liked the film. It's the Odyssey in the Civil War South.
A great movie.
He's a top 5 actor for me.

It's really pretty good.

A great book and an absolutely stunning movie, in my opinion. Redgrave is completely unafraid and gigantic in her choices, as is Ken Russell. It's kind of a watershed moment in film.
Hamlet and Eggs
I've often felt, during the last year or so, that we're all living in a Vonnegut novel.
This is so good. The first time I saw it I was shocked by the wit and the maturity of the artistry. I think I'd expected something much more rudimentary and clunky and it is certainly not that.
Damn, that's good.
Says Red Molly to James, "Well that's a fine motorbike
A girl could feel special on any such like"
Says James to Red Molly, "My hat's off to you
It's a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952"
So was I.
I tend to think Agnes Moorehead stole pretty much everything she was in. She was a great actor.
