Me to my tour group upon return:

I’m so awkward but delighted every time a cashier or waiter would smile in wonder at my clumsy Japanese words/phrases. Like a good student, I was rewarded with many stickers at Disney. The hits:

Hai (yes)

I was privileged to be able to travel. For those that can’t, I highly recommend seeking out videos on life in other countries. YouTube is a great way to not only prepare yourself for travel but re-visit when home.

I’ve heard it’s a great place to visit but difficult to live in for some.

I never said it was perfect but it’s landing a 10/10 on many things.

What radicalized me? 10 days in Tokyo where the streets were clean, the people courteous of others, the public transportation ran on time, and the 7-11’s are stocked 3xs a day with fresh & delicious food/drinks. America, the rest of the world is living in the future and we’re stuck in the dark ages.
