Really sad Jackie. Doug was a great cameraman and a lovely person.

Strange that any estate Osborne has had involvement with in Scotland over nearly 2 decades have had the worst record for wildlife crime, Raeshaw included. I hope it is the first estate to have its licence revoked.

Great that this operation, initiated by Tayside Police, is still going strong. It should be borne in mind though that egg thieves still target eggs on Scotland's Western and Northern Isles into June, where nesting is later.

Pheasants often drop eggs away from the nest Jackie, especially if a part clutch has been taken by predators.

Loophole closed in grouse shooting licences via Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 2026 Some good news! The giant loophole in Scotland’s grouse shooting licences has been closed, via an amendment in the Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 2026. If you recall, grouse moor licensin…

Good news! Amended Scottish legislation provides for licence suspension/revocation where 'relevant offences' (wildlife crime & animal welfare) are committed outside the licensed area, if they're connected to grouse moor management.

Operation Galileo – nine men have been sentenced for two incidents of hare coursing Eight men have been sentenced after attending a hare coursing event at Keal Cotes and one man has been sentenced after hare coursing at South Somercotes.

Sentences for hare coursing. A good operation to convict these criminals. CBOs are effective though disq from driving and keeping dogs would have been good additional penalties for these low-life coursers. www.lincs.police.uk/news/lincoln...

A great commentary Ruth. My next book, Prelude to Murder, is almost complete but publication will have to be delayed now because of Campbell's proposed appeal against conviction.

It's no surprise that this disgraceful estate with one of the worst records of wildlife crime within its boundaries has appealed. It would be real justice if it eventually lost its licence (if it has one) to shoot.

Fearless hunt saboteurs protect wildlife, so why don't the police give a shit? The Canary went out sabbing against the Middleton Hunt - and we found a bunch of animals (toffs) but some dedicated activists too

www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/... Hunting with dogs has always been a pet hate of mine. It is disappointing (and disgraceful) when some police forces don't play their part in investigating what is mostly criminality.

Don't know how they can be allowed to reach that size. Seems an ideal situation to catch and prosecute at least some of the criminals.
