We’ve reached the stage of parenting where we have to say the names of Pokemon over and over with exasperation.

Didn’t expect the Power Girl/Punisher team up in the new Spidey/Superman crossover. That was fun. A better issue all around than the Deadpool/Batman one I think.

Also, the kid had a great time. Favourite parts: the cute little “star guys” and having multiple princesses in it.

It felt even more like a Mario Galaxy (All Cutscenes) YouTube video than the first one did and I think that’s why I enjoyed it more? They just abandoned any pretence of story or character growth and just made scenes that were fun and you know what, they were.

My general Pokopia aesthetic so far has been “these animals learned how to build buildings” and I’m making things out whatever I have around.

You can acquire Star Trek without paying anyone money! In fact I highly encourage doing so! All of our old entertainment is dead and owned by rich ghouls who want us to die, but the internet is an infinite entertainment replicator and you just gotta learn how to talk to it.

Also, most importantly, the obnoxious needle drops are fewer and shorter. It’s a common thing in Illumination movies, but Mario has decades’ worth of iconic music, you don’t need them.

The Mario Galaxy movie is an improvement on the first one for sure. It’s still basically the cinematic equivalent of jingling keys in front of your face, but less annoying than last time around. Lots of references for the oldies in the crowd, and a few good chuckles. I liked it.

The randomness of obtaining recipes in Pokopia is mildly annoying. I’m over 70 hours in, @pamsteropolous.bsky.social however started yesterday, we both just got the recipe for “wooden table” today.
